Lights that flicker or bulbs that keep blowing

Usually a connection, sometimes the bulb, occasionally the supply.

Three brass pendants lit over a dining table

One light

A bulb that is loose, a dimmer that does not suit LED bulbs, or a tired lampholder. Try a new bulb first.

Several lights, or the whole house

Flicker across the house points to a loose connection at the board or in the supply. Bulbs blowing often is the same story. This is the one worth ringing about, because a loose main connection gets hot.

What I check

The connections at the board, the lighting circuit readings, and the voltage at the supply. If the fault is on the supply side, I tell you who to ring.
