The job explained

Kitchen electrics

When should the electrician come in?

Early. First fix happens before plastering, so the socket and lighting positions need agreeing with you and your fitter before walls are closed.

Do you work with builders?

Yes. I work directly with homeowners and alongside builders and kitchen fitters on bigger projects.

Recent work

A cooker hood extractor wired in a four-bedroom house in Bromley.

Electrics can look fine and still not be safe.

Most electrical faults are hidden behind a faceplate or inside a wall. The only way to know an installation is safe is to test it and read the results, so that is where every job starts.

Questions

How long will it take?

Small jobs usually take a few hours, a consumer unit replacement usually a day, and a rewire of an empty three-bedroom house one to two weeks. Your quote gives the timing for your job.

Will it cause any damage?

Small jobs leave little or nothing behind. Rewires and new circuits mean chasing cable into plaster and lifting some floorboards, and your quote says exactly where before work starts.

Do I need to be home?

For a visit or a job inside the property, yes, or a key holder. For outside work, not always.

Do you do bathrooms and loft conversions?

Yes, as well as kitchens and extensions: showers, extractor fans, lighting and new circuits. Send photos or ask for a visit, and the quote comes in writing before any work.
